The Director of Procurement is responsible for leading all company procurement efforts to efficiently and effectively enable spend owners such as business units and functional partners to maximize the value they receive from vendors to meet their objectives. Exemplary candidate will promote Avesta’s core virtues and embrace a fast paced and innovative environment.  Avesta is looking to disrupt typical processes and procedures with technology and the Director of Procurement will pioneer new approaches with top technology leaders.


  • Oversees all areas and functions of procurement and establishes long-term and strategic planning objectives. Supervises the Procurement team, including skill development, motivation and performance management.
  • Cultivates long-term vendor relationships for procurement of key goods and services. Critical areas include but are not limited to: interior renovation supplies, appliances, flooring material, various equipment, office supplies, paint supplies, as well as community contract-services.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions. Responsible for ensuring the procurement policies and procedures are understood and implemented throughout the company.
  • Oversees overall supplier risk governance through a variety of best-practices, supplier management techniques and contractual terms.
  • Participates in and/or leads major contract negotiations. Reviews and recommends changes to improve contract terms, conditions and procedures.
  • Proactively drives the continual search for qualified vendors in all areas to ensure costs are appropriately aligned and that Avesta benefits from a competitive marketplace and employs latest technologies
  • Participates in regular cross-functional meetings; leads the team in identifying problems, troubleshooting solutions, and implementing decisions.
  • Participates in the development and final approval of Avesta’s material specifications in conjunction with Construction and Operations teams.
  • Recommends company procurement strategy, goals, and guidelines on an annual basis; responsible for purchasing of goods and services in excess of $10 million.
  • Responsible for overseeing the company’s procurement and compliance software applications, and subject matter expert training on the platforms.


Bachelor's degree or equivalent direct experience.
5+ years of management experience in purchasing and/or procurement within the real estate or hospitality industry required. Demonstrated success in achieving tangible savings impact.
Experience in planning and implementing large-scale, company-wide Procurement initiatives.
Proven ability to lead and develop a team and drive performance improvement, demonstrated by progressive increases in management responsibility.
Team player that develops strong collaborative working relationships with internal partners and can effectively engage and ability to build consensus among cross-functional teams.
Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills.
Career motivated, dedicated, committed leader.
Experience with Ops Technology, Yardi (Voyager, PAYscan, P2P), and Compliance Depot preferred
