Avesta is a real estate investment firm based in Tampa, FL. Our primary business is the acquisition, renovation, and operation of multifamily apartment communities in select high growth markets. We are a high-growth company: in 6 years, we have acquired 13,000 apartments worth nearly $1B, executed more than 100 real estate transactions, and grown our combined investment-operating team to more than 300 employees. Over the long term, we plan to expand our business into new geographies and add new products such as senior housing, redevelopment, or other similarly complementary businesses.
Transaction execution and supervision
Supervise and facilitate negotiation of JV (control and non-control) term sheets and operating agreements.
Facilitate legally intense negotiations such as REIT share purchase agreements.
Supervise debt financing and loan documents.
Negotiate Purchase and Sale Agreements and Property Management Agreements.
Manage and constantly improve set of Form Documents
Investment structuring and organization
In-house subject matter expert on tax-efficient investment vehicles including but not limited to foreign investment, 1031 exchanges, etc.
Maintain organization of JV agreements, operating agreements, and other structures to comply with proper procedures and clean, efficient processes.
PE fund formation and management
Oversee private equity related oversight and compliance (entity registration and upkeep, SEC filings, state federal securities rules, transparent billing and allocation for all activities).
Create and launch fund documents (PPM, partnership agreements, etc.).
Manage deal-by-deal syndication in addition to funds.
Serve as Chief Compliance Officer for key regulatory / business issues including but not limited to the following, and help execute our solutions to each:
Broker/Dealer registration and maintenance.
Other innovative solutions for any compliance, licensing, or regulation of alternative investments.
Analyze approaches to legal risks for business activities with a research approach.
Maintain repository of stock legal forms and modify case-by-case when situation does not demand full use of outside counsel.
Train deal team in key basic legal matters that are bread-and-butter parts of real estate investment transactions
4+ years of experience in private equity/real estate/transactional law
Experience in fund formation and management a plus
Experience with alternative investment vehicles and structuring required, and real estate is a plus
Hold valid Series 24 license or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of start date
Demonstrated ability to build new relationships and manage outside counsel
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written

Location:Based in Tampa. Occasional travel to various cities for outside counsel relationship management, conferences, and other business activities.
Compensation:Competitive with market rates. Performance-based incentive compensation.
